Best AI Quiz Helper Extensions for Students (2026 Review)
The best AI quiz helper extension depends on where your quizzes live. For a large, well-reviewed general homework helper, AnswerAI and SolvelyAI have the biggest Chrome Web Store footprints. For in-page help inside a learning management system (LMS) such as Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace or Moodle, the LMS-specific tools (FastSolve, Canvas Quiz Solver, QuizAce) read the question where it sits. Apex Vision AI has the most generous free allowance of the group. Below, ten extensions are compared on five criteria, with every number taken from the Chrome Web Store or the vendor's own pricing page on the same day.
Last verified: October 12, 2026 against the official documentation linked below.
Disclosure: this review is published by QuizAce, which is one of the extensions in the table. To keep it fair, QuizAce is scored on the same public facts as everyone else, and the places where competitors are ahead are stated plainly.
How we compared them
Most "best quiz solver" lists rank tools on accuracy percentages that nobody can check. We did not. Accuracy depends on the subject, the question type and the model behind the tool, and vendor claims such as "98% accuracy" are marketing copy, not measurements. Instead, we used five criteria a student can verify in a couple of minutes:
- Platforms supported. Does the extension read the question directly on your LMS page, or do you have to take a screenshot or paste text into a side panel? Both work, but they are different workflows. We list the platforms each vendor names in its Chrome Web Store description.
- Image questions. Biology diagrams, chemistry structures, graphs and screenshots of equations are common. An extension that only reads text will miss them.
- Free tier. How much you can use without paying, whether it resets, and whether a card is required. (Our separate free tier guide goes deeper on this.)
- Price. The entry price and the billing periods on offer. The full plan-by-plan breakdown, including caps and cost per answer, is in our pricing comparison.
- Review count. A 5.0 rating from 25 people tells you far less than a 4.7 from 2,000. We report the rating and the number of ratings exactly as the Chrome Web Store displayed them.
One more filter: some listings in this category advertise features built to hide quiz activity from instructors or proctoring software. We did not give credit for those features, and we do not describe how they work. Whether you may use any AI tool on a given assessment is set by your instructor and your school's academic-integrity policy, not by the extension.

Checked on Oct 12, 2026. User counts and ratings are as shown on each extension's Chrome Web Store page (the store rounds user counts down). Prices are from each vendor's pricing page; "not listed" means we could not find a public price without creating an account.
Reading the table: what each criterion really tells you
Platforms: page readers vs screenshot tools
The ten tools split into two groups. Screenshot and highlight tools (AnswerAI, SolvelyAI, Quizard AI, and partly Apex Vision AI) work on any website because they never need to understand the page structure: you capture the question, they read the image or text. That makes them flexible, and it is why they work equally well on a PDF, a textbook site or a discussion post.
LMS page readers (FastSolve, Canvas Quiz Solver, Answerly AI, Quiz Solver AI on supported sites, and QuizAce) parse the quiz page itself. The advantage is that they see every answer choice exactly as the LMS renders it, including dropdowns, matching pairs and multiple-answer questions, without cropping. The cost is that each LMS has to be supported individually, and LMSs render quizzes very differently. Canvas alone has two quiz engines: Classic Quizzes and New Quizzes, which loads inside an embedded frame (see our Classic vs New Quizzes explainer). Blackboard has Ultra and Original, which share almost nothing at the page level.
So check the platform list against your actual courses. If you are on Schoology or ALEKS, FastSolve names them and QuizAce does not. If you are on Brightspace or Microsoft Forms, fewer tools list them by name. If your coursework is spread across PDFs and websites rather than one LMS, a screenshot tool is the more natural fit.
Image questions
Every screenshot tool handles images by design, because the screenshot is an image. Among the page readers, Canvas Quiz Solver, Answerly AI, Apex Vision AI and QuizAce state that they read pictures inside the question. FastSolve and QuizLLM do not mention images in their listings, which does not prove they cannot, only that they do not claim it. If your course is heavy on diagrams (anatomy, organic chemistry, circuits), test that first during the free tier.
Free tier
On free usage, Apex Vision AI and FastSolve are the most generous of the extensions that publish exact numbers: Apex gives 30 requests with a refill every 12 hours, FastSolve gives 10 solves per day. QuizAce's 5 questions per day is smaller. QuizLLM's 5 queries per week is the tightest, and Answerly AI has no free tier at all. Several of the biggest names (AnswerAI, SolvelyAI, Quizard AI) say a free version exists but do not publish the limit.
Price
If you only need help for one exam week, weekly billing matters. QuizAce ($6.99), Canvas Quiz Solver ($7.99) and FastSolve ($9.99) sell a week at a time. For a full year, Canvas Quiz Solver's $79.99 is the cheapest unlimited annual plan we found, ahead of QuizAce ($89.99) and FastSolve ($99). Metered plans (Apex Vision AI, Quiz Solver AI) can be cheaper per answer for light users and more expensive for heavy ones; the arithmetic is in the pricing comparison.
Review count
AnswerAI's 12.4K ratings and Quizard AI's 3K ratings are the strongest public signal in the category: thousands of people have used them long enough to leave a review. At the other end, several tools (FastSolve, Answerly AI, and QuizAce) have small review counts, so their ratings swing with every new review. A low count is not a red flag on its own, since every extension starts at zero, but it means you have to rely more on your own free-tier test.
Extension-by-extension notes
AnswerAI: biggest review base, general purpose
With 100,000 users and 12.4K ratings averaging 4.9, AnswerAI has the most social proof of any tool here. It is a general AI tutor: screenshot or highlight any question, chat about a concept, get step-by-step solutions, or use the writing assistant. It is not built around a specific LMS, so on quizzes with dropdowns or matching you will be capturing the question yourself. Pricing is the weak spot: its pricing page shows a free-trial offer rather than a clear list of plans.
SolvelyAI: strong for math and summaries
SolvelyAI also lists 100,000 users (4.7 from 204 ratings) and adds a one-click "solve all" for a page of problems, step-by-step explanations, and YouTube and webpage summaries. That summary feature is genuinely useful for revision and something the LMS-specific tools do not try to do. Its pricing page renders client-side and did not show prices we could record.
Quizard AI: well reviewed screenshot tutor
Quizard AI (20,000 users, 5.0 from 3K ratings) is a screenshot-first tutor that names Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle and Google Classroom as places it is used. Its website does not list subscription prices, so check inside the extension before you pay.
Apex Vision AI: most generous free tier, most study features
Apex Vision AI (8,000 users, 4.9 from 2K ratings) is the most complete study suite on the list: in-page answers and explanations, image reading, a voice tutor, guided hints, and generated practice exams and flashcards from your own course material. Its free plan (30 requests, then a refill every 12 hours, no card) beats every other free tier we found. Paid plans are metered: $7.99 for 500 requests a month, $14.99 for 1,000, $19.99 for 2,000. If you want an AI tutor more than a quiz reader, this is the strongest option here.
FastSolve: widest LMS list
FastSolve names eight platforms, including Schoology, ALEKS, Knewton Alta and Learnosity, which none of the others list. It gives 10 free solves per day with no card, then $9.99 per week, $19.99 per month, $49 per semester or $99 per year, all unlimited. The listing is new-ish (5,000 users, 4.1 from 25 ratings).
Quiz Solver AI: forms and many sites, metered plans
Quiz Solver AI (20,000 users, 3.9 from 76 ratings) covers "20+ quiz sites" and can fill Google Forms and Microsoft Forms. Its yearly-billed plans are $64.99 (120 answers a month), $95.99 (800 a month) and $224.99 (unlimited). The 3.9 rating is the lowest of the well-known tools, and the listing was last updated in May 2026.
Canvas Quiz Solver and Answerly AI: Canvas specialists
If you only ever use Canvas, two specialists are worth a look. Canvas Quiz Solver (2,000 users, 4.3 from 96 ratings) covers Classic and New Quizzes, reads images, and sells unlimited use at $7.99 per week, $14.99 per month or $79.99 per year, with a 7-day refund window. Answerly AI (1,000 users, 5.0 from 25 ratings) is one plan at $12.99 per month, capped at 150 uses per day, with no free tier. Both listings also advertise features aimed at hiding activity from the LMS, which we did not credit.
QuizLLM: a different category
QuizLLM (3,000 users, 4.8 from 505 ratings) targets live classroom games such as Kahoot, Blooket and Wayground, not LMS quizzes. It is included because it shows up in the same searches; if your classes are on Canvas or Moodle, it will not help.
QuizAce: broad LMS coverage, new listing
QuizAce reads the question on the page, including images, and explains the answer on Canvas (Classic and New Quizzes), Blackboard Ultra and Original, Brightspace/D2L, Moodle, Google Forms and Microsoft Forms. That is the broadest coverage of the major LMSs plus both form builders among the page readers we compared. The honest weak point: it is new, so it has only a handful of Chrome Web Store reviews, far fewer than AnswerAI, Quizard AI or Apex Vision AI. Its free tier (5 questions per day) is also smaller than FastSolve's or Apex's. Full platform details are on the platforms page.

Before you install any of them
- Read the permissions. Chrome shows what an extension can access when you install it. Google's Chrome Web Store help page on permissions explains the high, medium and low alert levels. A quiz tool needs access to the sites where your quizzes are; be wary of one that wants far more than that.
- Check the "Updated" date. LMSs change their pages often. An extension that has not shipped an update in months may have quietly stopped working on your platform.
- Test on a practice quiz first. Every free tier above is enough to see whether the tool reads your LMS correctly before you pay.
- Know your course rules. Instructors decide whether outside tools are allowed on each assessment. Use AI helpers for practice quizzes, homework you are allowed to get help on, and review. Our guide on studying with AI tools covers how to use explanations to actually learn the material.

Try QuizAce on your next practice quiz
5 questions a day free, no card. It reads the question on the page, including images, and explains the answer so you can check your reasoning. Paid plans start at $6.99 a week; see pricing.

FAQ
What is the best AI quiz helper extension in 2026?
There is no single winner. AnswerAI has the most reviews, Apex Vision AI has the most free usage and study features, FastSolve lists the most LMSs, and Canvas Quiz Solver is the cheapest unlimited yearly plan for Canvas-only students. Pick by the platform your courses use, then test the free tier on a practice quiz.
Which AI quiz helper works on Canvas New Quizzes?
Canvas Quiz Solver, Answerly AI and QuizAce all say they read New Quizzes directly. Any screenshot tool (AnswerAI, SolvelyAI, Quizard AI) also works there, because it reads a capture of the screen rather than the page code.
Is there a free AI quiz helper with no daily limit?
Not among the tools we checked. Every free tier has a cap: per day (FastSolve, QuizAce), per 12 hours (Apex Vision AI), per week (QuizLLM), or unpublished. Unlimited use always requires a paid plan.
Can AI quiz helpers read images and diagrams?
Most can. Screenshot-based tools read images by design, and Apex Vision AI, Canvas Quiz Solver, Answerly AI and QuizAce state that they read images inside quiz questions. FastSolve and QuizLLM do not mention it in their listings.
Are the accuracy percentages in extension listings reliable?
Treat them as marketing. Figures like "98% accuracy" are self-reported and do not say what was tested. Real accuracy varies by subject and question type, which is why trying the free tier on your own coursework is more informative than any headline number.
Is it allowed to use an AI quiz helper?
It depends on the assessment. Many instructors allow AI help on practice quizzes and some homework, and prohibit it on graded exams. Check the syllabus and your school's academic-integrity policy, and ask your instructor when it is unclear.
